The finale of Season 1 is here. Over the last 24 weeks, it has been an honor to work on one of my favorite stories, with a cast and staff filled with immense talent & dedication. Daemons is, by all accounts, an ensemble piece. And I couldn’t be happier to play my part in it. ❤️

And with that, Season 1 of Daemons of the Shadow Realm has officially come to an end. WOW. 🤯 This show has already Left (😉) such a huge impact on me. I will always be incredibly grateful to Shawn, our director, for casting me as Hana and trusting me with this character. I’m so thankful that he saw something in me that made him believe I could bring her to life, and for giving me the opportunity to grow into the role throughout the season. I came into this project with some ADR experience, but Daemons challenged me in new ways. There were things about the process and the material that pushed me outside of my comfort zone, and I was given so many opportunities to learn, experiment, and continue growing as an actor. Shawn was always incredibly helpful whenever I came across something I wasn’t quite sure about. His guidance helped me understand what was needed while still giving me the freedom to experiment and make my own choices with Hana. He also seemed to know exactly when I needed a little reassurance whenever I started doubting myself, and I’m so grateful for the trust, guidance, and encouragement he gave me throughout the season. Hana has quite possibly been one of the most challenging roles I have ever taken on, but also one of the most rewarding. This was my first-ever supporting role in an anime. When I first received these auditions, I started reading the manga and quickly fell in love with this world and these characters. Getting to then step into it as Hana has been such a surreal and rewarding experience. Toward the beginning of recording, I think I put a lot of pressure on myself to try and make everything sound as perfect as possible. At some point, though, I realized that chasing perfection wasn’t helping me grow. Instead, I started setting little goals for myself for each episode or each session I was called into. I would pick one thing to focus on, work on it, and try to improve little by little. Anime dubbing can be incredibly fast-paced, and there is always something new to learn or adjust to. Taking things one step at a time helped me stay grounded and reminded me to actually enjoy the work instead of getting caught up in trying to do everything perfectly. I definitely questioned myself and my abilities at times throughout the season, but looking back, I think those moments ultimately taught me a lot. Over time, I became more comfortable in the booth, grew more confident in my choices, and felt myself getting closer and closer to Hana. I learned how to connect with her in ways I hadn’t expected. And honestly, despite the challenges and moments of self-doubt, this has been one of the best experiences of my life. I had SO much fun working on this show, and I know I’ll carry these memories with me for a very long time. I want to give the biggest thank-you to the cast and crew of Daemons of the Shadow Realm. Every single person involved in this production put so much heart, passion, and hard work into this show. It has been such a pleasure getting to work alongside all of you. I hope someday I can meet even more of you face-to-face and tell you just how much this experience has meant to me. Thank you to Crunchyroll for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this production and for bringing this story to audiences around the world. Thank you to Hiromu Arakawa and her incredible editing team for creating this story, these characters, and this world for all of us to fall in love with. I have so much respect for the work that goes into creating a story like this, and I’m honored to have been entrusted with one of its characters. And of course, I have to thank the fans. I'm not sure who made this (please lemme know if it was you!) But I love it.

In June of 2025, I saw a curious animatics teaser for a @sciencesaru project called Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia. There was this feel of paper shadow puppets, tons of vibrancy to its colors, a story that felt bold with a hint of melodrama, and it ended with an advert for #TomatoSoup’s manga…which I went and purchased. I was immediately hooked. The exploration of the Mongolian Empire, the historical timelines, the strong femme leads given the full stage, and the centering of Muslim culture at the forefront—I was blown away. All of this led to a near year-long mission of hounding the powers-that-be to acquire the property, dropping all the not-so-subtle hints that I wanted to direct it, and prepping for it as if it were already mine (knowing full well there were no guarantees that it would even end up with me—I’ve let myself be hurt before L O L). Luckily, my persistence paid off and it landed in my studio. Cheers to my producer, Susie Nixon, for having my back and dealing with my obsession. Step one was complete and now the real work had to begin. Along the way was casting, translations, research research research, and falling further in love with Sitara and her path. Big ups to our writer @Casonworld and mixer Neal Malley for their literary and sonic storytelling. And I don’t think it’s overstepping to say our team all love @Jaadugar_global and the care was evident at all stages. As for our wonderful voice artists, I want to start with thanking @CristinaVee for her talent, her willingness to play, and for trusting me throughout this entire season. It had been years of me trying to find a way to collaborate with her and I’m so grateful it was through this story. It’s always lovely (and rare) to find one of your people in this world; and Cristina and I get each other. She’s a force throughout and our dub is lifted by her mere presence. Shoutout to @GeoffBisente and #DerricBenavides for engineering and hanging out with us for 12ish weeks; you, both, real ones. I mentioned the strong femme leads, yes? Well, @TunaEmpress, #AnastasiaMuñoz, @littleramyun, @KitsuneSqueak, @reshelmae_wav, @CelezPerez_, @EzraV, #CameronWisener, @zareen917, and @DonnaXia_ crush their respective roles. They’re beautiful, heartbreaking, ethereal, manic, and powerful. I’m a Pisces so I already cry constantly, but these folks had me in puddles all season. And a special thank you to Marwa Elda not only for her talent, but for all the knowledge, pronunciations, chats, and passionate sharing of her culture that kept me honest and genuine as we pieced together this mosaic. I will be eternally grateful.
