Rippled Validator Update - Upgrade to xrpld 3.4.1 before Oct 9 If you run an XRPL validator or node, this one isn't optional. xrpld 3.4.1 is an emergency security release. Its new amendment, fixBatchV1_2, already has supermajority support and is expected to enable Oct 9. Servers not on 3.4.1 by then become amendment blocked and fall out of sync. Check your node: - server_info: build_version should read 3.4.1 - feature: fixBatchV1_2 should show supported: true Running Docker? There's no official image, and xrpllabsofficial/xrpld stops at 3.3.0. I built mine from the XRPLF signed package: - Verified the key fingerprint, .deb SHA-256 and commit hash against the announcement - 28s without RPC, back to proposing in about 3 min - Watch the runtime user. The new image defaults to uid 997. Corda, Overledger and XRP: Where the Paths Crossed Why I went back to 2018 This week Quant had two big days. On September 24, seven UK banks completed live interbank customer transactions using tokenised sterling deposits on a platform Quant built. The same day, The Clearing House picked Quant to run the orchestration layer of its US tokenized deposit network. That sent me digging. I remembered reading some articles on a time when R3's Corda, Quant's Overledger and XRP all showed up in the same picture. They did. Here is what actually happened, with sources, and where each one ended up. 2016 to 2018: Ripple and R3 The option. In September 2016, Ripple gave R3 the right to buy up to 5 billion XRP at $0.0085, valid until September 2019. At the time, R3 was the bank consortium behind Corda. The fight. In 2017 Ripple tried to end the deal, and both sides sued. Ripple said R3 had not delivered on promises to open doors with its member banks. The settlement. In September 2018 they settled. Terms were confidential. Documents from the later SEC case showed R3 exercised the option on about 1.04 billion XRP in 2019. Ledger Insights worked out that this was worth somewhere between $240 million and $470 million, depending on the price at exercise. December 2018: Corda Settler picks XRP first Three months after the settlement, R3 launched Corda Settler. It is an open source app that lets a payment obligation recorded on Corda be settled on an outside payment rail, with an oracle confirming the payment. R3's own press release headline: "XRP the first settlement mechanism." The code is still public on GitHub. The repo has a dedicated ripple module with an XRP client and an XrpSettlement type. That module was last changed in June 2019, and the repo itself was last updated in November 2020. 2019: Overledger connects to both Quant's Overledger was built to connect different ledgers. By 2019 its supported list included R3's Corda, Hyperledger Fabric, JP Morgan's Quorum, enterprise Ethereum and Ripple. In 2019, SIA tested Overledger between Corda and Ethereum. So for a moment the pieces sat side-by-side: Corda for the agreement, XRP as a settlement option, and Overledger able to talk to both. Where each one went 🧵👇

R3. The first bridge from Corda to a public chain, in March 2021, went to XDC and was built by LAB577. In May 2025, R3 announced a strategic partnership with the Solana Foundation and pointed its public chain work at Solana. R3 and Quant together. They were the core technology team for UK Finance's Regulated Liability Network experiment, with Corda as the shared ledger and Overledger as the orchestration and API layer. UK Finance published the results in September 2024, with 11 member institutions involved. Quant. In September 2025, UK Finance picked Quant to build GBTD, the tokenised sterling deposits project with Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest, Nationwide and Santander. Monzo later joined. That is the platform where this week's live transactions ran. The Clearing House. In June 2026, TCH and major US banks, including JPMorganChase, Bank of America, Citi and Wells Fargo, announced the On-Chain Money Initiative for tokenized deposits. On September 24, TCH picked Quant for the orchestration and transaction-management layer, connected to the RTP and CHIPS networks. Availability is targeted for the first half of 2027. What is still connected today Overledger and XRPL. Overledger's developer docs still cover the XRP Ledger, including an XRPL faucet page and release notes for tracking XRPL transactions. XRPL is one supported network among many. R3 and XRPL. I found nothing current connecting them. Corda Settler's XRP module is still on GitHub, but it hasn't changed since 2019. What I'm not saying - I'm not saying Ripple and Quant are partners. I found no announced partnership. - I'm not saying the GBTD or TCH networks use XRP or XRPL. Nothing in the announcements says so. These are tokenized bank deposit networks. - I'm not saying the 2018 settlement required R3 to support XRP. People have speculated about that, but the terms were never made public. It's a fun piece of history. Around 2018 these three were close. Since then, the bank tokenized deposit work in the UK and US has gone to Quant, and R3 has moved toward Solana. NEW: 🚨 The network behind $2 trillion a day in US payments just picked Quant. The Clearing House announced today that Quant will power its On Chain Money Initiative. The Clearing House is owned by 25 of the largest banks in the US. It runs the wire, ACH, check and instant payment rails. JPMorgan, Bank of America, Citi and Wells Fargo all back this initiative. Once it's live, member banks can settle tokenized deposits with each other around the clock. A tokenized deposit is a normal bank dollar that lives on a blockchain. Same money, faster rails. Quant builds the layer in the middle. It connects the banks, routes the payments, and plugs into the instant payment and big wire networks banks already use. Banks without their own setup can get it as a service. Target launch is the first half of 2027. Gilbert Verdian called it a defining step toward programmable money.
