The MLS is going to die..
Yes the headline is clickbait-y, but our co-founder & CEO, James' actual argument in this op-ed for the MLSPropTech Digest is pretty much the opposite.
The traditional reasons the MLS exists are undeniably under pressure. But MLSs also possess something extraordinarily difficult to recreate: a durable network with scale, purchasing power, distribution, data, and real insight into which technologies create value for members.
We shouldn’t get stuck solely defending the MLS’s historical role. We should be shining a brighter light on the opportunities that come from that network advantage.
That means using the MLS’s scale to bring members better technology with better economics, partnering more deeply with the proptech co's building the next phase of our industry, and, where the alignment is right, investing in and participating in the value these companies are helping to create.
