DIGGER. GO. WATCH. IT. HOLY. FUCK. Every actor and department on this film was at their peak powers.

They're not trying to "make RDJ happen". RDJ did happen 24 years ago. Chris Columbus cast RDJ after two excellent auditions. One with the Latverian accent and one without it. FOX (Rothman) and Marvel (Arad) vetoed his casting because RDJ had no box office draw at the time. He was just coming back from the talespin as a series regular in ALLY McBEAL & Mel Gibson's THE SINGING DETECTIVE (which made $0). Columbus ended up quitting and then Rothman hired Tim Story - who a year later on Michael Chiklis' request cast McMahon as Doom. Columbus then negotiated a deal to do DEATHLOK for Paramount and pitched Downey as his choice to star. RDJ's Doom auditions made such an impression on Columbus that he actually went over Arad's head to get him cast in DEATHLOK. Unfortunately, Universal ended up stealing Columbus from Paramount to helm NAMOR (also from a script by David Self) delaying DEATHLOK indefinitely. NAMOR then lost its budget after Universal decided to shelve HULK 2 and also became delayed indefinitely. The bottom line is RDJ was Doom for as long as Columbus was attached to FF, which was almost a year. Even Favreau got to see him audition that second time while he was plotting Thor (yep, at first Arad brought Favreau on for Thor).

Digger makes really wonderful and creative use of its IMAX expanded ratio utilizes the whole frame to evoke feeling, add texture, and sprinkle humor

DIGGER is a fantastic piece of art. Full of tremendous performances, none greater than Tom Cruise as Digger Rockwell. Admire the textures, the bold strokes, the vision that went into making this canvas! Tremendous respect for Inarritu and his seminal talents.

When someone asks me to describe #Digger

DIGGER is definitely a BIG BOLD swing, but it 100000% worked for me. Satire done right is damn near unbeatable, and with our current state of the world, not only is this an incredibly important film, but it’s one that I think will age like fine wine. Beautiful watch, PLEASE go see this 🙏🏾

Yeah, Digger was fucking incredible. Just got out of my Thursday preview showing and my mind is BLOWN. #DiggerMovie is a film that yells at you and simultaneously gives you a warm hug, yet it's most daring feature is it's mirror-like quality. Do we dig or die? 5/5. Masterpiece.
