I don’t know what happened in the Nolan Wells case.
but I do know this: after covering 100+ court cases over nearly 15 years, a district attorney has
serious control over whether a grand jury indicts.
There’s a reason people say a prosecutor could “indict a ham sandwich.”
So when you hear certain lawyers, especially the ones talking to conservative audiences, act like grand juries are neutral and independent, understand this:
You’re being misled.
That’s not how the system works, and they know it.
Because if a DA wants an indictment, they usually get one.
So if they didn’t… that’s not some random outcome.
That’s a decision.
And if nobody’s explaining that to you, ask yourself why.
