One of my favorite parts of being an American?
We all have a desire to do something great. Historically, "good enough" doesn't have a place in our dictionary.
I love what I do because I get to help people build businesses with this exact mentality.
We have better opportunities and resources than any other people throughout history. Don't take that for granted.

Exactly the kind of story I tell employers about why they shouldn't be looking for "cheaper."
Hiring is an investment in your team.
If you make a good hiring investment, the returns are exponential. Make a "cheap" investment, and your team will suffer.
Highly paid employees vs "cheaper":
Back in 2007, Mr. Jozef, a 1st gen Polish immigrant, was relocating from NY to south and showed up for interview at my new 5axis shop.... in tweed suit & tie (leather briefcase too)
He had titanium 5axis machining experience and as9100 quality systems.
He said "i know I wont get salary I had in NY but hoping for a good offer".
I offered him $1 *more* than his NY salary.
He was stunned and teared up a little.
He contributed greatly to many of the 5 year Boeing contracts we won.
We grew from 8 people to 100, and from 850k to over $20 million.
Jozef never scrapped one part in almost 10 years before he retired. Not one.
But most importantly --> he trained many apprentices.
Many went on to become awesome 5axis machinists and some programmers too.
Hire the best.
Pay so well you think it hurts.
It will be worth it.

This is why one of our primary interview questions is
"Talk to me about a time where you solved a problem that wasn't in your job description."
The answers you get will tell you about the candidates, character, mindset, and passions.
WAY more than you could learn from a resume.
Palmer Luckey on how he hires at Anduril: he looks for people who worked on projects they cared about, not ones given to them, because that's what drives you to learn the most.
"Whether it's college or the state-mandated younger educational system, don't look to them to tell you, 'Here's what electronics projects you should be working on. Here's what you should be doing to learn how to do these things.'"
"One, they're often years or even decades behind what industry and hobbyists are actually doing, so you're gonna be learning how to do things that are ancient."
"Two, when you're working on something that you're only doing for yourself, you're gonna make way better decisions in what you teach yourself, in how you do things."
"When I hire people at Anduril, I look for people who have done projects that were outside of what their work paid them to do or what their school made them do. Because that means they're the type of person who is willing to work on things with their own money and their own time, because they wanna bring something into this world that wouldn't have existed otherwise."
