A man walked into our Church during service yesterday. He said he had just been released from a 3 year 7 months jail term at Kirikiri, Lagos. He was flat bellied with poor clothing. All he requested was prayer for a fresh start. He had had a misunderstanding with a colleague in his office, pushed the guy and the guy fell and died. He mas accused of murder and he ended up at Kirikiri Prisons. Fortunately, an NGO visited and paid for autopsy. The deceased was discovered to have died of asthma related complications. His charge was changed to Manslaughter. That was after a year! The concerned family withdrew the case knowing well that their son was asthmatic. He was freed yesterday. All he came out with were basically old clothings and two new Bibles given to him by organizations that never left them. He will be returning to Ilisan-Remo today to join his family - a wife with two sons. A beautiful smile came on his face when I switched from English to our dialect (Remo). He spoke it fluently since he had grown up there, though he is originally from Delta State. Freedom is priceless!
