H.E. @Ahmedaliyuskt, Executive Governor of Sokoto State, highlighted that the new housing units will provide safe shelter, restore dignity, and support the recovery of families displaced by insecurity and natural disasters. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting beneficiaries beyond housing, including providing capital support to help families rebuild their livelihoods. The Governor also announced plans to strengthen coordination for displaced persons through a dedicated mechanism that will improve engagement and ensure more effective support reaches affected communities. #FromDisplacementToStability

At the commissioning ceremony in Illela Community, Sokoto State, @abbaaliyu_, MD of @TheREANigeria, highlighted REA’s commitment to the state, including the delivery of a 50kW AMP mini-grid and progress across 43 projects aimed at expanding energy access and strengthening resilience for the people of Sokoto. #FromDisplacementToStability

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, H.E. @ProfZulum, Executive Governor of Borno State, congratulated H.E. Ahmed Aliyu, Executive Governor of @SokotoState, on the successful delivery of the mass housing units. Governor Zulum emphasized the importance of strengthening basket fund mechanisms and increasing partner contributions to scale recovery, stabilization, and resilience efforts across affected communities. He also commended @UNDPNigeria, the German Government, and development partners for their continued support to recovery and resilience-building in Borno State through the Regional Stabilization Facility’s housing and recovery investments. #FromDisplacementToStability

Across Northwest Nigeria, development is increasingly being driven by regional solutions. From Katsina to Sokoto, investments in resilient livelihoods, energy access, climate action and community recovery are creating new pathways for growth and stability.  Together with the leadership of H.E. @Ahmedaliyuskt and Sokoto State Govt and partners, @GERinNigeria, @NorAmbNigeria, @TheREANigeria , we are helping build the foundations for a more resilient, peaceful and prosperous Northwest.

This week, alongside @BornoGovt and development partners from Germany and the Netherlands, we visited Gowza community in to assess progress under the Regional Stabilization Facility. The results are evident: restored infrastructure, improved livelihoods, strengthened local governance, and renewed hope. We extend our sincere appreciation to our partners @GERinNigeria, @SwedeninNigeria, @UKinNigeria, and @NLinNigeria for their continued support to stabilization efforts in northeast 🇳🇬. We also commend the Government of Borno State and the resilient people of Gwoza for their commitment to driving sustainable recovery and long-term peace.

We were pleased to welcome Ms. Nazila Ghanea, @UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief, on her first official country visit to Nigeria, at the invitation of @NigeriaGov Together with the @UN_Nigeria Country Team, we remain committed to supporting dialogue, advancing freedom of thought, conscience, and religion, not just as a human right, but as a foundation for lasting peace and social cohesion.
