Phish Offer Biggest Bust Out in Band History: @phish returned to their native New England last night for the first of two big shows at Boston’s Fenway Park. It was the Vermont Quartet’s first Fenway appearance since a two-night stand at the baseball stadium in 2019 and their first show since completing a thematic run of five dates at New York’s Madison Square Garden, where they revisited a handful of impactful years during their rise through the ranks in the 1990s. Tedeschi Trucks Band (@DerekAndSusan) have cancelled their upcoming appearances at Floyd, Va’s FloydFest and Newport, RI’s Newport Folk Fest after singer/guitarist Susan Tedeschi had an appendix scare that will require surgery. Old & In The Way Recording with Jerry Garcia, David Grisman, Peter Rowan, John Kahn, Vassar Clements and Guest Ramblin’ Jack Elliot Set for Re-Release: In early 1973 Jerry Garcia found time for a new bluegrass project. Old & In The Way’s classic lineup included Garcia (banjo, vocals), David Grisman (mandolin, vocals), Vassar Clements (fiddle), Peter Rowan (vocals, acoustic guitar) and John Kahn (bass). The group performed nearly 50 shows (with Richard Greene and then John Hartford on fiddle for the initial dates). Garcia Provisions has announced plans to release the group’s 11/4/73 performance at Sonoma State College in Rohnert Park, CA. In addition to the core quintet, Ramblin’ Jack Elliot guests on vocals and guitar during “Tramp on the Street” and “Waiting for a Train.” Live at Sonoma State – 11/4/73 initially came out on streaming to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show, on November 4, 2023. It subsequently was released for Record Store Day on November 28, 2025. This will be the first time it comes out on CD, and a honeydew cream vinyl option is available as well. Jad Tariq performed as part of Bob Dylan’s band Friday night at Cincinnati, Ohio’s PNC Pavilion At Riverbend. The 29-year-old, Connecticut-bred, Memphis-based guitarist is the latest personnel change Dylan has made during his current summer tour. Tariq describes himself as “a Memphis-based R&B guitarist/vocalist” on his Bandcamp page. The rest of Dylan’s current combo includes bassist Tony Garnier, drummer Anton Fig and guitarist Joel Paterson. As previously reported, Dylan surprised fans by bringing on Julian Lage to replace Doug Lancio–who had been on the road with The Bard since the Rough and Rowdy Ways World Wide Tour opened in November of 2021–for a June 17 gig at California’s Santa Barbara Bowl. Lage and Bob Britt, a member of Dylan’s band since October 2019, shared guitar duties until June 26, at which point Britt departed the tour after making a cryptic Facebook post that seemed to confirm that he quit. By the time Dylan took the stage at Austin’s Moody Amphitheater on June 29, Chicago-based guitarist Joel Patterson had joined the group. Lage was not at the June 29 show as he had a prior commitment at Brooklyn, NY’s National Sawdust and then remained in New York for a set at The Stone. Read more at the link in bio.

Mumford & Sons are currently routing their way through Europe and the UK on an extended tour in support of their new album, Prizefighter. For this leg of the run, the English folk act have recruited Dawes’ Griffin Goldsmith to play behind the kit, subbing in for The Slip/Barr Brothers drummer Andrew Barr, who has been with the group for over a year now. Along the way, Mumford & Sons have also welcomed a mix of additional guests.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Confirm “Rave Album” King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard will release Alien Metal, their 28th LP since their 2012 studio debut, later this summer on p(doom) records. The album is an outgrowth of their recent “rave shows” and follows their 2023 set The Silver Cord, which leaned in a more electronic-dance-music direction. Phish kicked off their summer tour last night at Madison, WI’s Kohl Center. It was not only the Vermont Quartet’s first show in the college town of Madison since November 1998 but also their first show anywhere in The Badger State besides East Troy, WI’s Alpine Valley, their regular haunt, since that late ’90s show. The group jumped right into things, kicking off their first set with an extended, unfinished, 10-plus-minute “Chalk Dust Torture” that segued into another ’90s classic, an almost 14-minute “Ghost.” From there, after Trey Anastasio told the crowd, “It’s good to be back,” the group offered a version of “Back on the Train,” a song that always feels fitting at the beginning of a run, that segued into the Billy Breathes single “Free.” Read more at the link in bio.

Umphrey’s McGee guitarist Jake Cinninger first joined the group in 2000, three years after the band’s formation. He soon became a core member of the collective both as a key songwriter and guitarist. However, the group has just announced that he will be stepping away on a permanent basis. Earlier this year the group revealed that he would not appear on the band’s 14-stop West Coast run, which began on March 10, due to personal reasons.

Yonder Mountain String Band continue to pepper their fall schedule with new shows. The jamgrass outfit’s latest additions to the calendar include stops at Marshfield, MA’s Levitate Backyard & Rexicana Surf Cantina on September 4 and Rockport, MA’s Shalin Liu Performance Center on September 5, before the musicians’ previously confirmed September 6 stop at Charlestown, RI’s Rhythm & Roots 2026. read more: relix.com/news/detail/yonder…
