My kiddo stopped talking as a result of the trauma he suffered. He communicated by barking. For months I didn't understand why. Until a stranger asked him. He barked because everyone likes dogs, so he thought if he acted like a dog...the staff would like him. #RemoveTheRoom

🚨NEW🚨 Permanent Secretary backs Education Minister’s boycott order despite warning that it could be ‘unlawful’ The Education Minister and his top civil servant are remaining defiant that officials will not attend their scrutiny committee, even after a warning that those actions could be ‘unlawful’. The education committee was previously given legal advice that if Paul Givan was to continue to uphold his boycott then it could be unlawful. Under section 44(1) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 the committee has the power to call for persons or papers, creating a legal duty for them to be presented. Committee members were advised that “if the minister were to direct a departmental official not to attend” then “this would be a breach of the Code of Conduct as this would be asking the departmental official to act in a way that would conflict with the Code of Ethics by directing unlawful behaviour”. Check out keepherlitinlife's video! #TikTok vm.tiktok.com/ZGdCVfFWM/ Toileting in schools has became a huge talking point recently and I am so glad to see so many parents speaking out for children's rights. Your child should not be denied access to the toilet whilst in school.

Sitting in cold classrooms also disrupts learning...
❗ EA condemns disruption caused by hoax emails sent to schools ❗ The PSNI have confirmed, that following proactive police enquiries, the threatening emails sent to schools across Northern Ireland this morning are being treated as a hoax. We strongly condemn incidents of this nature and the unnecessary concern and disruption they cause for pupils, families and wider school communities. Enquiries are continuing, but at this stage it is believed that more than 300 schools received the emails. Similar emails may also have been received by some schools across UK. While some disruption was caused, the majority of schools remained open. We have worked closely with the PSNI throughout the incident, communicated updates to schools and provided support and reassurance. We thank school leaders and staff for their professional response to a difficult and challenging situation.

Over a year has passed since this tweet. @JonBurrowsMLA @uuponline what is your and the party definition of the word "soon"? Just so constituents & members of the public from NI who ask for your help in matters of the public interest can be aware of what the word means to you...
I’ve uncovered a number of issues during recent school visits. Sensory rooms are vital for children with special educational needs, yet too often in mainstream schools they’re inadequate. Our schools need help to put this right. I’ll be publishing my fact finding outcomes soon.

The amount of parents speaking out about school uniform policies atm as their daughters have been told to remove colourful nail polish is shocking. Nail colour does not impact learning (fyi neither does hair colour/style). School uniform policies must be reformed.

Finding out about this in the news rather than from my kids school's is really not how these types of things should be communicated. Neither of my children's schools have communicated anything about this.
⁉️BREAKING: 'Security threats' at schools across Northern Ireland following an email signed "Allahu Akbar" and referring to "Sharia law" 🎤 Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 speaks to Education Minister @paulgivan about this developing story. It comes as a number of schools have been evacuated or closed after receiving an email claiming that "an explosive device" was located in their buildings. The Minister says the threats appear to be "not viable" and that a process is now underway to assess the situation. He also has a message for parents who are understandably concerned this morning. Around 160 schools across Northern Ireland received the email. The PSNI is now investigating.

And despite alllllllll the evidence, we decided to copy and paste this over here.
14 years of education reform and what have we got? A fragmented, marketised system, SEND provision in crisis, rising home education (not always by choice), nearly 1m young people NEET and declining PISA science scores. Perhaps the trad movement should examine its own legacy?

No matter what your political views, this is not good governance. Children and young people in NI deserve so much better from their Minister.

This is a scandal which has not received anything like the attention it warrants. Deeply disturbing.

🚨 NEW 🚨 Education Authority chief says typo prevented email from landing after finally admitting department requested £30k for football team MLA accuses Education Minister of trying to ‘invent a mechanism’ to hand money to Richhill AFC The head of the Education Authority (EA) has provided a belated explanation about the proposed allocation of £30,000 to a football team, claiming that an email from the Department of Education was “never received” due to a typo. It comes as Education Minister Paul Givan has been accused of trying to “invent a mechanism” to award £30,000 to Co Armagh football team, Richhill AFC. I revealed that Mr Givan wanted the EA to allocate £30,000 to Richhill AFC to cover a shortfall for a pitch estimated to cost £580,000 — a team that already received a grant of £500,000 from the Government. (Comment: The department and EA are attempting to prevent me from doing my job effectively. (No response from the department on this issue since July. It has ignored every query of mines since. This from a department whose Minister recently ordered officials to boycott his scrutiny committee. An order that is believed could be unlawful if he continues to uphold it. (EA with a one-line response to this back in July and no admission until now. (FoIs facing obstruction. I'd love to know if the department treats any other journalist with such contempt. Is it because of what I have exposed in the past 2 years? (Full story available online. Along with other stories in this investigation).
