I just introduced a bill to help protect our wildland firefighters' health and safety. For too long, they have heroically saved people and our forests without effective tools to keep them safe. This bill will finally invest in the research and protections our wildland firefighters deserve.

GOOD NEWS: Our community is receiving $6.1 million in NOAA funding to support habitat restoration for salmon and steelhead in the Sandy River Basin. At a time when these already-declining species face constant threats from climate change, I will continue advocating for funding that helps protect this iconic symbol of the Pacific Northwest.

Our lands and communities need protection. That message was clear at the roundtables I hosted in Sandy and Cascade Locks. I heard from firefighters, tribal leaders, and U.S. Forest Service leadership, all working to protect our lands. I look forward to acting on your concerns in DC. Stay loud.

Lack of sufficient housing continues to be a prominent issue for veterans. Any veteran being unhoused is a policy failure.
