Kim Ahern won last night. She ran a strong campaign and she's going to be the Democratic nominee for Attorney General. I'm asking everyone who voted for me to vote for her in November. She will work hard at this job and she'll need us. My wife, Sarah, carried this campaign along with everything else she carries. She is my anchor, and none of this would have happened without her. I owe her a quiet fall, and probably a good deal more than that. Our team inspired me every day, and everyone who touched this campaign brought heart to it. The police, fire and corrections officers of this state, the carpenters and electricians, the mayors and legislators and city committees who joined us, all of you took a chance on a guy from Warwick and stayed with it. Thank you. I can't pay that back. But I can keep working. I owe this state more than I can repay, and finding ways to pay its people back is my life's work. And I hope the hundreds of thousands of Rhode Islanders who made their voices heard this year don't let their contribution stop at the ballot box.
