This National Suicide Prevention Month, we remember those who have lost and and stand with those that are still struggling.  September serves as a reminder that we must invest in mental health care services and expand access to mental health support for those in need. Billions spent on a war in Iran while the President cuts health care and food assistance for America’s families. The priorities couldn’t be clearer.

Today, @calstate Chancellor Mildred Garcia stopped by my Office in Washington to discuss ways we can advance the needs of our CSU students in Congress. As a proud CSU alum, I know firsthand the impact that our CSU students leave in California. The CSU system powers the future of our great state. In Congress, I’m working hard to make sure their voices are heard. Of course, I have to give a shoutout to my alma mater and Harvard of the West, @csuf . Go Titans!

Our frontline workers put their lives on the line to protect us, each and every single day. We owe it to them to invest in proven mental health programs. That’s why I was proud to colead the Providing Emotional Assistance with Relief and Love (PEARL) Act, which passed the House unanimously. This legislation establishes a pilot program to adopt dogs from local animal shelters and train them as support dogs for America’s frontline workers. This is one step forward in giving our frontline workers the support they need to protect our homeland. I urge the Senate to act quickly so we can make this bill law of the land!

Today, I joined my friends at @CHCI for a leadership panel dedicated to inspiring and uplifting America’s aspiring Hispanic entrepreneurs.

Your vote is your voice — our democracy works best when everyone has the chance to make their voice heard.

25 years later, we have not forgotten.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, a day that changed our nation forever.  Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives tragically lost on that fateful day — the civilians, service members, and first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our neighbors from harm’s way. We saw the worst of humanity that day and the best of America in response. 
25 years later, their memories will continue to live on with us. We will never forget their courage. We will never forget their sacrifice.

Today, Congressman Lou Correa co-introduced the bipartisan SBA Spanish Resource Report Act — legislation to give Congress a clearer picture of the Spanish-language resources currently available to entrepreneurs and small business owners through the Small Business Administration.

Our veterans took an oath to defend this country — making the ultimate sacrifice if necessary. Many bring back the invisible scars of the battlefield, with an estimated 20 to 40 veterans take their own lives every day.   Congressional lag on advancing psychedelic therapy treatments cannot be tolerated. This medicine works. This medicine saves veteran lives. The time is NOW to deliver the proper care that our veterans need to heal from the invisible wounds of trauma. It’s the least we can do to thank America’s heroes for their service.
