The long-awaited South Atlantic red snapper season is finally here. From October 9th to October 22nd, I encourage everyone to take advantage of Florida's beautiful waters and go fishing! While it is fewer days than we hoped for, this season is a great opportunity for us to learn more about the red snapper fishery, collect high-quality data, and lay the groundwork for a longer and more predictable recreational season in 2027 and the years to come. On this solemn day, we remember the 9/11 terror attacks that shook our nation 25 years ago. May we never forget the Americans who lost their lives that day and the many days that followed. God Bless our brave servicemembers and allies who joined together in the aftermath of this great tragedy to fight terrorism around the world. The U.S. Supreme Court plays an integral role in our federal government. To preserve the delicate balance of power between the three branches, it is important that the Supreme Court bench continues to seat only nine justices. I was proud to vote YES on H.J. Res. 1 to propose a constitutional amendment to protect the sanctity of the Supreme Court. I was disappointed to see my Democratic colleagues vote to block this important constitutional amendment and instead, continue to advocate for packing the court for political gain.

Today marks the 81st anniversary of the Allied victory over Japan in World War II. This Victory over Japan Day, we honor our brave American heroes who fought to preserve our freedom. May the sacrifices of the Greatest Generation never be forgotten.

One of my favorite parts of being a representative is helping young Americans get excited about our country and democracy. Civic engagement is important, and it’s great to see kids excited to participate and advocate for issues they care about most.

Today, on Purple Heart Day, we recognize the brave servicemen and women wounded or killed serving our country. May their sacrifices never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

I am saddened by the passing of former Texas Congresswoman and Chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee, Kay Granger. As a teacher, businesswoman, city council member, mayor, and U.S. representative, Kay dedicated her life to serving her community and country. My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones as they mourn the loss of a great American and devoted civil servant.

I voted to prevent an unnecessary and manufactured government shutdown. This legislation protects our national security, preserves critical services, and removes the option for a manufactured shutdown for political gain. We will not let government funding be a pawn in any political games. There are no poison pills, no political gimmicks, and no partisan riders in this bill. It is a clean, straightforward stopgap that simply extends funding necessary to prevent a shutdown at the end of September. House Republicans are delivering certainty, protecting progress, and paving a responsible path forward for our nation. I hope to see all 12 full-year House Appropriations bills, that passed out of the Appropriations Committee, get signed into law for 2027. It’s critical we fully fund our government through the appropriations process to prevent funding uncertainty in the future.

It’s important we provide our servicemen and women with the resources they need to defend against any threat that faces our nation. That’s why I was proud to vote YES on the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to improve our servicemembers’ quality of life, invest in our defense industrial base, continue to refocus our military on war fighting, and advance President Trump’s peace through strength agenda. This bill: ✅ Ensures our troops have what they need to defend our nation ✅ Cuts waste, fraud, and abuse ✅ Restores our stockpiles ✅ Prohibits woke policies ✅ Secures a 5-7% pay raise and expands access to affordable housing and childcare, putting our servicemembers and their families first
