Parents deserve time to heal, bond with their babies, & care for their families without sacrificing their economic security.

When I visited Moshannon Valley Detention Center, I saw no reason for it to remain open. I see even less reason for corporations like GEO Group to be awarded PA taxpayer dollars to keep it running.
My colleagues and I are demanding answers about how our taxes are being used for this inhumane facility.

Today is Roberto Clemente Day, marking the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month and honoring the legacy of one of Pittsburgh’s greatest icons.
As a Pittsburgh Pirate, Clemente made history on the baseball field while fighting for the dignity of Latino players and dedicating himself to serving communities in need.
Earlier this year, I had the honor of visiting the Roberto Clemente Museum here in Pittsburgh. Today, we celebrate his life, his legacy, and the generations of Latino leaders he continues to inspire.
