On the West Bank where I grew up, there is a historic lack of recreational activities and infrastructure investment, as well as a feeling that these areas are not prioritized. For the past 20 years, the Morris F.X. Jeff Sr. The Municipal Auditorium has stood as a living monument to Katrina’s devastating impact on New Orleans. In 2025, the timeline for the Hurricane Katrina Recovery Project expired, leaving the project’s future uncertain. Today, I’m proud to share news that will bring you HOPE. FEMA extended the deadline for the $38 Million renovation of the Auditorium until 2028. This represents a chance to finally get the job done – and turn a symbol of tragedy into one of hope and renewal for our city’s future! @NOLACityCouncil

For far too long, students at under-resourced schools have faced barriers to access to STEM fields. Today, that changes. I’m proud to introduce the Equity in Research Act, alongside my colleagues @RepLaMonica, Rep. @CDMenefee, and @RepRaulRuizMD, which creates a targeted National Science Foundation grant program to increase research capacity for under-resourced colleges and universities.
