The good lord would never disrupt the best game of my life.
NEW STORY: It's been historically downpouring ever since the Celtics got to Charleston for training camp. Joe Mazzulla challenged his team not to skip their golf plans. “He said you got to prove how much you love something. If you don’t play in the rain, you don’t physically love it — and I’m about to see how many guys on this team truly love what they do.” celticsblog.com/boston-celti…

We’ve been covering settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank for years. But yesterday, we found ourselves on the menu. A group of masked settlers beat our team and pummelled the 51 year old woman we were interviewing unconscious. We’re all ok now - and Aida is out of the hospital - but this is just one incident among an unprecedented surge in settler violence across the West Bank. Here’s out story on yesterday’s attack on Sunday Today on @NBCNews. #Israel #WestBank @TODAYshow

Why do you think the Yankees were called the Evil Empire? This is so detached from reality.
Remember when the Yankees went to the World Series in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2003? Then they traded for the best player in baseball, Alex Rodriguez. Funny how nobody said the Yankees were "ruining baseball." Winning organizations have always looked for ways to get even better. The Dodgers aren't doing anything the great franchises haven't done before.
Community note
The claim that "nobody said the Yankees were 'ruining baseball'" is incorrect; the team faced similar accusations during their late 1990s-early 2000s dominance for high spending and success. bleacherreport.com/articles/11793… nytimes.com/athletic/67441

Counterpioint -- I'm blown away at how many people insist what Hurley did after the Mullins shot is a problem, despite the ref saying otherwise.
I’ve been blown away by how many people said what Dan Hurley did after the Mullins shot is a non story.

They have not.
From @TheAthletic: For 40 years, Duke has been college basketball’s most polarizing team. People love to hate Duke. But has Duke basketball become less hateable? Perhaps, maybe, even likable? nyti.ms/47jRjJy

UConn has more national titles than 'Zona, Michigan, Mich State, Purdue and St. John's combined. They've also won two of the last three. (and are the most recent champ left in the field) Sorry we're not based in a major city, but perhaps the Huskies are still a blue blood?
Yes, but again, Duke, Arizona, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, St. John’s still in it.

HAMILTON!!
When you think of UConn basketball in March, which player immediately comes to mind?

Sure, the crowd will go nuts for player introductions. But that first "JAYYY-TEEEE FOR THREEEEEEEE!!!" is also going to hit so hard.

I missed this game to go on a first date. Not sure how I got so lucky, but I eventually married her and the Giants would go on to ruin the Pats undefeated season. Sometimes you gotta see about a girl.
18 years ago today, the Giants defeated the Cowboys in the NFC Divisional Round.

2011: 14 years ago today on Christmas Eve a huge moment in #NYGiants history. Needing a win & trailing the Jets, @EliManning hit @TeamVic on a short pass & Cruz took it 99 yards to tie an NFL record. This would kickstart NYG to a win & a Super Bowl title run

If you want to guarantee the absolute best team is dubbed "champion," maybe we should scrap a single-elimination playoff to avoid randomness. And instead allow a group of voters pick the best team based on a full-season sample.
"It was a bad take. It was a terrible take." @joelklatt revisits one of the "worst takes of the year" on the structure of March Madness. Thoughts?

The ACC champ also scheduled UConn and was not selected for the CFP. But not because it hurt Duke's strength of schedule.
It is a dangerous game for ND to poke at the ACC. They are pretty screwed if that scheduling relationship goes away. They can't make the playoffs by playing UConn and whoever else will schedule them, with every P4 league going to 9-game schedules by 2027.

For those keep track, UConn ranked higher than, like 2/3rds of the ACC on The Atheltic's power rankings and the AP and coaches' polls. Maybe let's stop using P4 membership to decide whether or not a program is good.

It’s amusing that P4 leadership ruined college football by changing the rules to benefit only them. Now that they have created such a shitshow that doesn’t get the intended results, they blame the G5 teams that benefit from the rules they instituted. This is fantastic.
