I struggle with Christians choosing to be cremated instead of being buried. The evil woman that brought cremation to America was a devout atheist and a founder of the Theosophical Society. Her name was Madam Blavatsky. Burial of the bones in the Bible is very sacred act by cleansing and applying ointments. Burning and crushing the bones by cremation is a cleansing act for “New Age” thinking (Buddhism). Jesus was buried without a bone being broken. He was the perfect sacrifice… something we strive to become a perfect sacrifice (which is impossible). I understand that if someone dies in a burning car or home doesn’t have a choice but still burned bones were buried in the Bible and not crushed. No DNA is left in cremated remains. Bones are meant to survive in the right environment for many many years. Why was it so important for Joseph’s bones to be carried out of Egypt and buried with his fore fathers? It took the Israelites 40 years to carry his bones out of Egypt. So much preparation was done for burial; washing and ointments. I understand people cannot afford to bury and I wish there was a cheaper alternative for burying. We are His Church and I believe that we are defiling His creation by burning and crushing our bones. Remember the idol of the Golden Calf and how God destroyed it by burning and crushing it and sending it down the river? Abraham, Issac and Jacob were buried and a lot of our other Christian roots. Why have we become so desensitized to cremation? Where does it say in the Bible that it’s ok to cremate?
