All of the caps have now been replaced! The Pacman PC has been streaming 80's music from Powerhitz for the past 6 hours... flawlessly. I recorded this about 15 mins ago, currently listening to Axel F play and loving it!!

Update! Pretty sure it was the SCSI card. I pulled the SCSI BIOS: no change. I then moved it to a new PCI slot. And we are good! Each PCI slot assigns unique resources, there was probably a conflict! I hope this theory holds 😂😂
Ah computers 😂. I gotta tell you though, I am having a blast, and no regrets here: I LOVE to solder apparently. This PC is having HDD timeout issues in DOS, but I think it is the SCSI card, HOWEVER, if not, I do have a backup plan on the way. Talk soon!

I have a major update on the Pacman PC.. I was finally able to make it through a Windows 2000 install! But... I don't think the problem was the capacitors, despite some of them looking a little crusty, and yes, I did replace MOST of them. Let's talk about it. 🧵

I guess that just goes to show you that nothing beats a hardware memory tester. Anyway, let's get back to what STARTED all of this, which was trying to see if I could get my NEC 4 disc changer to be recognized under Win2k with a fresh install. The answer: no😂

I got another BlueSCSI in the mail! This one has a cool 3.5" caddy with display too! I also decided to leave the dark ages and had some brackets 3D printed for my other BlueSCSI and my ZuluSCSI. One of the brackets was a little weak, nothing a washer can't fix. Onward!

I received the missing piece (bussed 10k resistor) I needed today for my XTIDE build! And I'm happy to report that it is working GREAT! Together with this adapter, I can use a CF card, making it just what I will want for a future build.

I got an external floppy drive for the Book 386!! When I met with a friend at VCF Midwest, I quickly learned that I didn't scroll far enough down on the Tindie page. And when I did, I found this beauty! I like this much better than the adapter: it's nice and self contained.

My new soldering obsession continues! I purchased an XT-IDE GlitchWorks kit to assemble. Other than soldering a bus resistor backwards and breaking it when I went to desolder it, the card seems to work pretty well!

So, what's next? I ordered all Rubycon replacement caps for this board. We are redoing EVERYTHING with these high-quality caps. If that doesn't work, we might look at the CPU next. But, I'm having fun with all of this, so that's the key. To be continued.
