An Update on Ribbit Wallet
Today we are sharing a difficult decision.
We will pause all future development and support for Ribbit Wallet.
Over the next 30 days, we ask all users to back up their private keys and move their assets to another wallet in the Supra ecosystem. After this notice period, we can no longer guarantee ongoing support for the product.
When we started Ribbit, we had a simple goal: make crypto easier to use.
We believed wallets should do more than store tokens. They should help people save, spend, and manage digital assets in ways that feel familiar and useful.
We built Ribbit as a bootstrapped project. There was no large funding round behind it. Much of the work was done by a small team that believed in the idea and was willing to build despite limited resources. For that, we are deeply grateful.
Over the last year, we built a working wallet, explored payments, tested real-world use cases, and learned a great deal about both the technology and the market.
Our biggest opportunity was not another wallet feature. It was payments.
We wanted to bring users from outside crypto into crypto through simple payment products. To do that, we needed reliable infrastructure.
Unfortunately, we ran into several challenges.
The first was the lack of a widely adopted stablecoin within the ecosystem. Stablecoins are the foundation of most practical payment use cases. Without them, it becomes difficult to build products that ordinary users can use every day.
The second challenge was payment automation. We wanted to support recurring payments for subscriptions and other long-term use cases. The automation infrastructure available to us was not designed for the kind of monthly and annual payment schedules we wanted to support. The costs were high, and long-term reliability remained uncertain.
As a result, we reached a point where continuing development no longer made sense for us as a business.
We are proud of what we built. Ribbit proved that the product could be built. It helped us understand the market, the technology, and the opportunities ahead.
Sometimes a vision arrives before the ecosystem is ready for it.
For now, we are choosing to pause rather than continue investing time and resources into a product without a clear path to adoption.
That does not mean the idea is gone forever.
We will continue to watch the space. If the infrastructure improves, adoption grows, and the conditions become right, we may revisit this vision in the future.
To everyone who downloaded Ribbit, tested the wallet, reported bugs, shared feedback, or supported us along the way, thank you.
To every team member who contributed their time, energy, and belief to this project, thank you.
You helped us build something real.
We are grateful for the journey, and we hope our paths cross again in the future.
