Okay @AF_Falcons fans, my thoughts and reactions to our win last night. And indeed it was a must win for our season so I will take it. @AF_Football played tough hard-nosed ball through two overtimes to secure the win. It took a while for the offensive line to find its push but did find it when needed. We averaged 5 yards a carry and in reality that's what we got with most rushes, we had few long breakaways in the win last night. Dr Jekyll +Mr Hyde play calling last night, some brilliant some that made you scratch your head. Up the middle 4x's at the goal line reminded me of our loss the first time we played at Michigan. Other times the play calling was brilliant as with the reverse roll out TD pass. Our defense throughout the game bent but did not often break. But we have a problem on the interior allowing big runs of 15 to 25 yards and didn't tackle well in the open field all night. Must fix this or it will come back to haunt us. 80 yds, I'll repeat it: 80 yds of penalties. This is not Air Force ball. And speaking of penalties we are lucky we got the penalty against Nevada for the block in the back which I'm not sure was a great call but I'll take it. QB Szarka is a stud and must be sore today. He cannot do that for 10 more games this season.

For those going to our fantastic @AF_Falcons Stadium today or tomorrow for the Bruno Mars concert here are things you got to know. Also remember, parking is fantastic but there is only two entrances to the base so it will be tough getting in and getting out. It's just a physical fact nothing to do with the management.

What? An OOC preview already?
What are you thinking Rick? only has a handful of full team practices whcih began this week and you are already looking at OOC opponents? What? Yep, had a few minutes of trying to contain my anticipation for tipoff and thought I'd look at our opener Wright State. And note this is a game I just 'MIGHT' head out east to watch near Dayton!
Wright State (23-12/15-5) is coming off a great season winning the Horizon League and losing to #3 Virginia in the NCAA's by 11pts. Could be a good test in Coach Joe Crispin's and staff's first season at the helm for our Air Force Falcons. But this is not the same WSU team as last year. WSU lost their #1,2,3,4,8,9 and 10 scorers from last year and have obviously rebuilt with transfers and with 6 freshmen on the roster (which is actually high in these days of NIL/transfers). #5 scorer Pangonis is back after shooting a respectable 38% from the arc and 9ppg. Shooter O'Hara (Jr transfer from Green Bay) averaged 14ppg last season, and Johnson (Jr transfer from Cedarville) averaged 13ppg last season will play key roles. A familiar face to us AF fans is big man transfer Djapa 6'11"/240# from Colorado State where he averaged 8mpg.
A 'new look' Wright State will play a totally unknown Air Force team who will definitely strive to 'Fly, Fight and Win'!

Another good pre-game look at this week's matchup for @AF_Football by @PSeanU1 @MWCConnection. Read the first half first: To reiterate what happened in the NDSU game is a must to analyze and fix what our @AF_Falcons must accomplish in week 4 after the bye. Bottom line for me is simple:
-Use the whole playbook from the kickoff AND just because we get 5 yards a carry from a RB DON'T become 1 dimensional. Diversify the offense to freeze the defense is a must!
-Coach Russ must utilize a fierce mentality and we must control the line of scrimmage and get behind the line of scrimmage
-Do not let the Nevada QB use his legs to win a series or the game.
-Make fans like me look forward to the defense holding and now it's 3rd and long, not "Oh no, it's 3rd and long our Achilles Heel for the last 15 seasons".
