back in the day there was this adult game in German about hospital management i learned to play the game without even reading a lick of German I am Portuguese i could even get a freaking class to teach me 🤣🤣🤣
When you're a kid, you HAD to make due with whatever game you had, 'cause your parents sure as hell weren't gonna take you back to the store/rental place. As adults, we have so much other shit going on that we just don't have the patience to be hung up on nonsense.
gaming as a kid was different... when you had nothing to do...
you couldn't stand to grind exp for an hour, but you'd spend five hours trying to find gold exploits because you hate grinding
The difference is time. As a kid we had time to get stuck and figure things out.. or we had a friend giving us ideas as we played. But we could turn it off go outside and play then come back to it fresh. Some games Would take a month to beat, or even more!
I think it's because we just don't have time anymore. As a kid we had unlimited time to trial and error as adults, if it's taking you 15 to 30 minutes to figure out how to progress that's precious time being wasted.
The only reason I look at stuff online now is because I have a compulsion to 100% everything and never miss any secrets. When I was a kid, I just wanted to enjoy things and didn’t care.
That kid in the image should definitely know how to read. But back in the early days the only thing you could do for help is by a magazine or call the Nintendo help line. A 900 number that cost about $1.50 a minute, my parents would have skinned me alive.
me...as young, you have a new game every year, or you could trade with friends, as an adult, you have like 200 games plus free, you just dont want to mess a lot with every game. just to beat it, no extra bs.
OMG there was this Japanese turn-based DBZ game on Gameboy I totally beat in like 2nd grade. All Japanese. You play as Goku and fight Yamcha, Tien, Piccolo, Raditz. You die, run snake bridge. Come back and fight Nappa and finally Vegeta. One of my favorite memories!
Experienced this comning back to Fallout 2 last year. Like... The hell? Where to go? How to find this item? Who to talk to? No arrows, no markers, no "quest objective" displayed. How did I finish this 25 years ago?!!?
Yeah... but they're the same fucking games... I used to know certain SNES RPGs forward and backwards. I play the same games today and get my ass handed to me.
as a kid I remember playing some dragonball game in japanese, I just figured out which symbol is responsible for what, I had no clue what it was about.
