Galaxy/Peq Volador exceeded my low expectations. It was fine. Galaxy's plancha was insane. Very surprised they put the belt on Pegasus. Poor Maya. Made me wonder if Panther (the guy they expected to win the poll not understanding how social media works) was plannedot win it?

It was the exact style of match that works for the gif machine people & the style wrestling (don't say lucha) has evolved into. On the flip side there was nothing in between the spots to connect them & if you re-watch it was all my turn, your turn. Lots of watching & waiting.

But it's uncool to discuss wrestling like that these days. Everything is fun, don't you know. And this match was very fun! Kira finally didn't choke under the pressure & may have hit the dive of the year. The best plug possible for women's month so good for them.

Friendly reminder CMLL had no special entrance for the Anniversary Show & some main event guys were rushed out in sub 15 seconds. But this bit from the talk show few people watch was deemed worth the time & energy. Priorities.

He "disappeared" from wrestling in 1991, but it was due to an injury (it was when he opened El Cuadrilátero with Super Astro). He returned in 1993, during the last stage of the independent circuit, but he was already very injured.

His career wasn't lengthy as is common for Mexican wrestlers of that era. He disappeared for years at the end of 80s (rumored to be drugs or jail). Came back in 1996 but was a shell of himself. Almost unrecognizable. Never made it into 2000's as his body failed on him.

Another death in the lucha libre world - 70s/80s star Babe Face (yes, pronounced babyface) passed away today @ the age of 79. Original UWA/LLI wrestler who also headlined Arena Mexico eventually. More known for his bloody matches than holding any championships.

He's probably much more known to the current generation for his rice stand that has been outside Arena Mexico for years. All the rices are named after wrestlers. He attended to the shop personally & was always taking photos. Common stop for many wrestlers after training. QEPD
