Good high school sports reporting can print money for local news outlets. But too many beancounters are too dumb to grasp this.

I will say this….with the Houston weather (heat/rain/lightning)…it is a fundamental athletic/fine arts need for these structures in the Houston area. D/FW has 70+ facilities. There are 144+ state wide. Houston has 3!!! Houston area needs to close the gap!!!

Junior year season highlights!🚨 C/O 27’ LB 5’10 195lbs 3.5 Dual Credit GPA 81.5+ total tackles. 5 TFL. 2 Fumble recovery’s. 2 QB pressures . @MarcusAdams_51 @aden_hooper @PHATSBOSS @HHSstrength @Stretchright @Jay_Havs @CoachG_Gtz @ChubbyJones1 @RobertKoopmann @DonnieBaggs_

Quarterbacks… it’s the worst time in the world to be a high school football quarterback. Why? There are 1 million voices to listen to…everybody is a guru... or think they are??Most of them are wrong. It’s almost impossible to get recruited. College coaches had rather have somebody’s third team not very good transfer or washed up has been then to have a high school winner who can make plays. So what’s the answer for you? The answer is simple :control what you can control… be the best version of yourself… turn off all the noise… show up to work to get better… find one voice that you can trust… follow a daily process that is guaranteed to make you better… never quit… notice what works and adjust to those things that don’t work… put together the most incredible video that’s ever been made… make sure the first play is incredibly dynamic.. and the second play is just as good… make sure that your best run is included in the first five place make sure that your best run is included in the first five plays…if the first five plays of your video, don’t grab the person who’s watching it then they’re probably not gonna get to play six. And finally if no one still wants you at the end of your high school career, there are still hundreds of colleges… junior colleges, division three schools NAIA schools... pick one of those and go and continue your journey... get better every day and those same guys that rejected you will come back to you two years later. And if they don’t, that’s OK, you will have become the best version of yourself. And that’s all that matters in the end. Be the best version of yourself and enjoy the journey!

Far too many high school athletes think their college years will be their “best” years…only to realize years later they were living them!

John Calipari spoke last night on Porter Moser: “I’ve always said, coaches win games, administrations win championships. We can do our thing but they choose to invest.”

If I could change ONE thing about high school athletics it would be for far more players and parents to enjoy the ride where they are and not focus on college so heavily. If that’s meant to be, it will be.
