Whew! This has been a LONG week! I like being busy without craziness, but I’ve had to reset my nervous system more times than usual. I’m definitely looking forward to the weekend and a chance to recharge. Has anybody else had a crazy week, or is it just me?

Happy Sunday! Don’t mistake silence for blindness. Don’t assume that because something wasn’t addressed, it wasn’t noticed. People often reveal the most when they think you aren’t paying attention. Sometimes the smartest move is to observe, listen, and let people show you exactly who they are. Silence is not cluelessness, just watching patterns. Playing dumb can be a superpower.

Relationships with students are so important. Every adult in the building has a role to play. From the custodian to the cafeteria staff, from the front office to the principal. Sometimes, it’s a greeting in the hallway. A quick check-in. Knowing a student’s name. Listening when they need someone. Those small moments build trust, and trust opens the door to learning. Our students should feel seen, known, valued, and supported by everyone. Every relationship matters. Every adult matters. Every student matters.

Leaders must develop thick skin. You will make people angry. You will be criticized, blamed, talked about, misunderstood, rebuffed, and sometimes even scorned. But true leadership means you don’t let any of that distract you from the mission. Your responsibility is not to be liked, it’s to lead with integrity, make the hard decisions, and keep doing what’s best for the people you serve. Keep leading. Keep serving. Keep doing the right thing even when it’s not popular.

I hate waiting. I’ve gotten better but it’s an intentional practice. Tonight in my devotional HE told me that waiting can be just as important as moving. During the wait, he’s trying to tell me something or remind me of something. Moving often feels like progress but waiting or the pause helps you see something you may have missed, a time to ask the source what he’s trying to show you. I appreciate the pause. Goodnight!
