As a reminder, the new spring and spring plate will be included with any stick combo purchased on Thursday! A lot of time and thought went into this, and I hope everyone enjoys the new parts.

There are many reasons for this, but to keep it simple, we added an incremental 10% to the average spring force from our samples. This effectively resets even the weakest samples to near-original or better performance. (Prior tweet pic is worn oem vs new spring)

Generally, springs used in light-duty applications such as the N64 module do not see much degradation over time. We could expect 2 to 5 percent loss over the past 30 years. However, real-world testing showed a fairly wide range of spring force measurements (greater than 10%).

With modern materials, enter glass-filled POM, you get all the benefits of OEM POM spring plate with 3× less deflection. Paired with the new spring, it delivers a more stable feel, faster centering, and less overall effort. Next let's take a look at the spring

Over time, unfilled POM will creep, and when under constant (24/7) load from the spring, it deflects. In module terms, this makes the stick feel less responsive and slow to recenter. Fortunately, we don’t live in 1996 anymore.

The rest of exhibit was very cool with tons of consoles set up and playable (with the proper controller). If the @STLScienceCtr would let me, I'd love to donate proper N64 controllers for the exhibit. Overall excellent exhibit and everyone was having a blast there!

The disassembled tech art, which is a very nice touch, is meant to display the tech used in the console/controller and DIDN'T inlude an oem controller 🤦‍♂️ and instead shows a 3rd party controller that dont even use the same tech as a proper N64 controller.

All 4 controllers are crappy 3rd party controllers... while I dont love this, I can understand why it might be ok to do this as these controllers see a ton of use/abuse and are cheap to replace, but what I saw next actually shook me 😬

This setup is incredible... there is likely no better way to present the N64 than 4 player Mario Kart (except for maybe goldeneye, but i understand why they picked MK64)... naturally I sat down to school the kids, but what I saw next stopped me dead in my tracks 🥲

Got to visit the @STLScienceCtr and was excited to check out their Gaming exhibit. Overall, very cool experience and I would recommend it; however, the N64 area was absolutely crazy... a 🧵

Hey I just wanted to give everyone a quick heads up. I have been mentioning publicly in a few posts that I'm trying to do another N64 drop end of the month (July), however, I am still waiting on a few items to come to me for the upcoming N64 stick, gate and bowl drop. I am very sensitive to people having to wait too long to get what they paid for, I am even more sensitive to not selling something that I have not been able to physically inspect and QA myself... The remaining items should be in my possession closer to the end of this week, early the following week. As such, I am going to hold off on the drop for an additional week or two. Once I have everything on hand, QA checks complete, I will put everything up for sale and then complete final assembly and packaging and then ship. I am trying to be overly transparent as I know everyone is looking forward to this drop and I am doing my best to be as transparent as possible while ultimately maintaining quality for everyone 🙂 As always, I will continue to post updates here as I have them.

Individual parts (sticks and bowls) and kits (sticks, bowls, and gates) go on sale Friday at 10 AM CST on my Etsy, with shipping in May. Gates will be offered separately at a later date. All parts are on hand, QA is complete, and there's no tariff risk for US customers.

Overall performance is excellent, with smooth gameplay, strong benchmarks, and a superior feel compared to OEM. Users must supply their own spring, encoder wheels, encoder PCB, lower housing and gears, which can be sourced from an OEM module.

The Renaissance bowl features a multi-material design with a hardened steel insert and an injection-molded housing. The bowl housing is designed to be OEM compatible as a drop in replacement for OEM bowl housing with enhanced mating with the Renaissance gate.

The Renaissance Gate is an injection-molded, high-quality, OEM-compatible gate with enhanced notch feel and more consistent values compared to OEM. It features a set screw design for easy assembly and disassembly and is made from high-quality polycarbonate.

Next, the stick features a unique taper that engages the notches nicely on both OEM gates and the Renaissance gate, discussed below 👇

It features a unique adjustment system, letting users customize its feel and output for their specific needs. We changed up the cap design to feature a unique tongue and groove system to better support the cap and reduce the chance it comes loose during game play.

The stick was created with @ALinkToTao, who has a history of crafting high-quality sticks for the N64 scene. We collaborated to combine innovative ideas into one package. We affectionately call it the Tao v4 OEM Pro.
