Hyperkin previously sold a TG16/PCE AV adapter that omitted proper output buffering/conditioning and essentially connected expansion-bus signals straight to consumer equipment. When I publicly demonstrated the problem, Hyperkin admitted that keeping the design “as basic as it gets” was a calculated decision.
Now they’re selling power supplies.
Power is the LAST place you cheap out, cut corners, or accept “good enough” engineering. Get voltage regulation, protection, polarity, filtering, or transient behavior wrong and you’re no longer talking about a bad picture or flaky controller. You can damage irreplaceable hardware.
I cannot tell anyone this new product is unsafe without testing it. But given my documented experience with their engineering decisions, I would not connect one to ANY console I care about.
Old hardware deserves properly engineered power. Please spread this around.

Working on expanding RoTATE mode to support higher resolutions, and not just 240p.
Looks like with the new memory controller, 480p is easily doable for those beautiful, hi-res shooooooomps games.
Max limit is probably around 800x600. 720p likely out of reach.

I think this is missing the forest for the trees. Nobody gives a shit whether it's Blu ray in 2030 or something else. The point is that Sony is walking away from ownership entirely. The medium isn't the issue. Replacing something you own with a revocable license and charging the same price is.
Putting a mechanical Blu-ray drive in a console in 2030 is silly. Sorry it just is. Like demanding your 2030 Tacoma has a tape deck. Maybe Sony should do what Nintendo does, sell a bullshit crypto card that acts as a physical "bearer bond" of the game license?
