Absolutely….
A Travel Nanny is a professional childcare practitioner who travels with a family to provide dedicated childcare support while they’re away from home.
It’s much more than “going on holiday with a family.”
Depending on the family and the trip, a Travel Nanny may be responsible for;
Daily childcare: Caring for the children, supervising them and making sure their needs are met throughout the day.
Meals & routines: Helping with meals, snacks, bathing, dressing, naps and bedtime while maintaining as much of the child’s normal routine as possible.
Travel support: Helping children through airports, flights, road trips, transfers and other parts of the journey.
Activities & entertainment: Planning age-appropriate activities, games, educational activities, outings and creative play so children remain engaged.
New environments: Helping children settle into hotels, resorts, new homes or unfamiliar destinations while keeping them comfortable and secure.
Safety & supervision: Being attentive to the child’s surroundings, routines and individual needs, especially during outings, events and activities.
Emotional support: Children can become tired, overwhelmed or homesick when travelling. A good nanny provides reassurance, patience and a familiar presence.
Supporting parents: Giving parents professional childcare support so they can attend meetings, rest, enjoy activities, have some private time or participate in events while knowing their children are being cared for.
Flexibility: Travel doesn’t always go according to plan. Flights get delayed, weather changes, children get tired and schedules shift. A Travel Nanny needs to adapt while keeping the child’s wellbeing at the centre.
And there’s also a very important professional side:
Before a trip, responsibilities, working hours, accommodation, travel arrangements, expenses, routines, expectations and emergency procedures should be clearly discussed between the nanny and family.
A Travel Nanny isn’t simply someone who gets to see beautiful places.
We travel because our work travels with us.
The destination may change.
The hotel may change.
The routine may change.
But the responsibility to care, protect, support and show up for the child doesn’t.
That’s what Travel Nannying is all about
I’m actually sharing more about this profession through my
