What we have seen in the Tameside branch is a pattern many of you may recognise: a surge of new members, a burst of energy, people bringing skills and ideas to the table and then, over the following months, many of them fade away. This happens across the political spectrum, and it is a symptomatic problem on the right. Too many egos, too many people getting swept from one group to another. Reform one week, something else the next. If we want lasting change in our borough we cannot keep starting from scratch. We need people who will plant their feet firmly on the ground in Tameside and keep them there for the long haul. We need cohesion, not another group and another group.
