Yesterday, we remembered my dear friend and brother, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN,
@RotimiAkeredolu as we commemorated his posthumous 70th birthday.
Aketi, as we fondly called him, was a man of uncommon courage, conviction and an unwavering commitment to the common good. He was a dependable friend, a trusted colleague and a fearless advocate for justice, equity and the security of our people. From our years working together as Governors to the many political battles we fought side by side, I came to appreciate his sincerity of purpose, his forthrightness and his deep love for Nigeria.
His leadership in the establishment of Amotekun, his advocacy for state policing and his commitment to a more secure and equitable federation remain enduring contributions to our national discourse. He was never afraid to speak his mind or stand by his convictions, even when doing so came at a personal or political cost.
As we reflected on what would have been his 70th birthday, I remembered with gratitude the friendship we shared, the laughter, the disagreements and the many causes that brought us together. His absence remains deeply felt, but his legacy of courage, service and commitment to the people continues to inspire.
Bisi and I remember him fondly and pray that Almighty God continues to grant his soul eternal rest and comfort his beloved wife, Betty, their children and the entire Akeredolu family.
Rest on, my dear brother and friend. Aketi Eternal!
