Pope Leo XIV’s doctors have confirmed that the tumor removed on October 13 was a lung adenocarcinoma and that the disease was localized. Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora said on Wednesday evening that a subsequent oncological assessment has confirmed that “no further treatment is necessary.”

I know I write about the royals, but this from Aberfan today just broke me. It’s from Diane Thomas, 78, a rescuer from the Red Cross who was only 18 at the time of the disaster, and spoke to Prince William. She said: ‘The chapel had been converted into a mortuary so I spent three nights in the mortuary, bathing the children, to try and get slurry off their little faces so their parents could recognise them. ‘I took the anorak off one little boy, put my hand in his pocket and came out [with a note that] he’d had eight out of 10 for spelling. I’ve been trying all these years to think about how I can trace his mum. I can’t but I want to tell her because I was the last person to hold him and bathe him.’ This is why today is so important.

Childhood is a time of wonder, curiosity and discovery. Today, The Princess of Wales has commissioned @Earlychildhood to take forward new work examining how nature can support the healthy development of babies and young children, with a new programme set to launch next year. Supported by founding partner The Duchy of Cornwall, the work will explore how nature, creativity and relationships can help nurture the social and emotional skills that underpin lifelong health and wellbeing. 🌳

Word had spread in the tiny village of Pulborough that the princess was there this morning and a small group of locals stood outside the village hall as she left. The Princess of Wales shook every hand, FaceTimed a poorly mother, helped a toddler to jump and cooed over a dog!

THIS is what should be on the 4th plinth in Trafalgar Square if you ask me. It was meant for a figure on a horse, so what better place is there to commemorate our greatest Monarch! 🇬🇧

there is a difference between being a #monarchist (which I am) who believes strongly in the model of constitutional monarchy everywhere and Royalists who are more interested in the personalities and celebrity of members of Royal families. Both are fine, but they are not the same.

Well, Anne Abel Smith is a great-granddaughter of Prince Leopold, the youngest son of Queen Victoria - and the Swedish King is also his great-grandson. Her grandmother, Princess Alice, remains the longest‑living female descendant, and second overall - after Prince Philip.
Anne Abel Smith (1932- ), who is just a few months younger than her third cousin the late Princess Astrid (1932-2026), is now the oldest living descendant of Queen Victoria (1819-1901). Her grandmother Princess Alice (1883-1981) remains Victoria’s longest-lived descendant.

something that got lost in all the hubbub over who in the #BRF was going to go to HV’s funeral is that the Kent siblings and the Duke of Gloucester were actually more closely related to the King than any “senior“ member and would have been appropriate representatives #royalty
