Gm 💜 ~ About my painting process ~ ~ I never plan my paintings in advance, which allows my intuition and subconscious mind to unfold. And like in a dream, a painting starts revealing itself, showing something that even I consciously wasn’t expecting . ~ Like encoded messages, paintings carry their secrets. Sometimes I understand my paintings with time, months or even years after I’ve made them. Some I still don’t. ~ After I finish a painting I feel like it has started living its own individual life. I do not possess them or have any authority over them, and they become like autonomous living worlds.

5. If someone in the audience wanted to start collecting digital art tomorrow, what is one piece of advice you would give them? ⚜️ 2 pieces of advice, and I think that they go hand in hand… 1. Decide what role you want to play in this movement (see above). My suggestion is that you consider being a patron (even to a small extent) 2. Be curious: Approach everything you do in this space with an open mind and desire to learn & participate. There are brilliant people who are building things and ideas that will revolutionize the world and YOU may play a role in making it possible. Let that sentiment fuel your patronage. What do you think the role of collectors is today? ⚜️I think first I need to categorize different types of participants that buy art (especially digital art) 💸Traders / Speculators: Don’t think I need to explain this one but if many of them were still around, conferences would be packed, marketplace volumes would be booming and media outlets would not stop talking about us (financially speaking). That era had its time and place but it’s time to build a more solid foundation of what digital culture leveraging the blockchain and other technologies will look like. 💰Investors: Recognize art as an asset class they want to include in their portfolios and expect to realize some form of financial upside from the appreciation of an asset. They may be lovers of art or they may just see it as an investment vehicle. 🔬Collectors: Are people that place value in rare and fine things. They like to buy for the pleasure of owning something that they appreciate and is difficult to acquire (I used the example of people who collect ancient Roman coins - when in Rome, right?) Collectors may want to capitalize on opportunities if they ever come but the main distinction that I see is that they’re usually more passive when it comes to participating in the ecosystem. 🏛️ Patrons: Want to actively participate and support the creative process. They know that there will be little to no financial upside to their efforts and contributions, but they participate anyway because they understand that they’re investing in the future of culture, and if this movement changes the world in the same way as the Renaissance (as many of us believe that it will - as I do), then this patronage will change the world. All of these have a role to play and people can perform multiple functions at the same time. But I believe we should encourage everyone (old and new participants) to try to be patrons to whatever extent they are able to. Support and believe in artists and builders who are challenging the status quo and inspire others to do it too - even if it’s spending $15 on an edition that you love - every contribution pushes our movement forward. When considering new artworks, what makes you decide that something belongs in your collection? ⚜️ Over the years, I’ve developed a loose philosophy for my approach to collecting which is more of traits I look for than an absolute checklist of what an artwork must have. And I also have to add that I can be and am a very biased collector- as I mentioned earlier my tldr my collecting habits is that I buy what I like. Nevertheless, Here’s my Holy Trinity: ⚜️ Intellectual Proposal: I like to see that there is substance behind an artwork. I like to see that the artist is knowledgeable on the subject they’re exploring. They don’t necessarily need to come from an academic/fine art background but I like to see that there is a strong intellectual foundation to their body of work. ⚜️ Technical Mastery of the Medium: I also look for artists that have worked to develop their technical skills in whatever medium they’re working with (oil, clay, camera, or code). They are always working on improving their technique and are active and passionate about learning new skills or ways to improve. ⚜️ Aesthetic / Personal taste: Ultimately and most importantly, I have to like the piece. I like showcasing artworks that I’ve collected over the years so I will buy artworks that I would display in my house and for the world to see. Obedientia by @sares_at

2. First Digital Artwork, would I buy it today and why did I buy it? ⚜️ Origin by @abrahamyhael ⚜️ Yes I would buy it again today. ⚜️ A reinterpretation of Michelangelo’s creation of Adam in the Sistine chapel (which I visited again a few hours before speaking on the panel to remind myself what we’re building here). Between the hands of God and Adam, which are about to touch to initiate the creation of man, there is an atom expanding and contracting - getting ready to explode - alluding to the Big Bang in an empty 3D space which is the chasm of the universe before there was light, creation. It is a piece that reminds me of convergence: of disciplines, the exploration of faith and science and their coexistence, of differing opinions and perspectives, it’s the convergence of potential - it symbolizes everything that this space can become if we continue to support brilliant thinkers and builders.

1. Can you tell us a bit about your origin story and a bit about what you collect? tldr; I collect what I like 😂 ⚜️ Since I was very young, my parents took me to exhibitions and openings so I grew up in museums and artists studios. I started collecting from quite a young age, from artworks that were gifted to me to purchases from when I started making my own money so I could support artists that I loved. About 8 years ago, the CTO of @coinbase at the time came to my university to give a talk about decentralization that I found so inspiring and compelling that I started buying crypto. Didn’t know much about it or what i could do with it - arguably I still don’t 😂 But in 2021/22, when I saw artists were using the same technology I had found so interesting, to create and share their ideas, I knew I had to participate. I dropped everything in my life and moved to Florence, Italy for half a year to study the history of the Renaissance because I felt so many parallels - a time when banking and art made revolutionary changes to society (simply speaking) It was in Florence that I started collecting digital art and decided to try to become a patron and hopefully achieve the magnificence that many in Florence had done before. We started @30CamposEliseos & eventually some of the collectors from that group branched out and started @WaitHopeFound Now here we are - thousands of artists exhibited/supported, hundreds of artworks collected, dozens of exhibitions around the world. But it is not nearly enough if we want this movement to change the world. Some pieces I collected before I started collecting NFTs
