🔴UPDATE on this rollover crash in front of Navasota's City Hall last night. The city says the pickup truck driver fell asleep, lost control, and rolled the vehicle. The crash damaged City Hall lighting and electrical infrastructure, as well as several trees on the property. Investigators observed no signs or indicators of intoxication. 🥩 Could ICE operations end up making your beef more expensive? Three cattle groups representing ranchers in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas say recent ICE enforcement activity is disrupting parts of the beef supply chain and could push already-high prices even higher. The groups say they’re hearing reports of cattle shipments being delayed and workforce disruptions at dairies, feedyards, transportation hubs, and feed and grain companies. They say the impact is also being felt by legal, documented workers who are worried about enforcement activity. The associations stressed that they support federal agencies enforcing the law, but they’re asking for enforcement to be carried out in a way that limits sudden disruptions to rural businesses and the food supply chain. It comes as beef prices are already at record highs and the U.S. cattle herd is reportedly at its smallest level in 75 years. 📲 Source: @TexasTribune

🚨 VIOLENT ATTACK: A man is accused of attacking another man with a machete during a confrontation on Saunders Street in Bryan. According to a probable cause statement, the victim suffered large cuts to his arm, face and back. A witness told Bryan police Marshall Ray Wilson Jr., 47, repeatedly struck the victim with a machete before running into a nearby home. The victim was broken down on the side of the road with his disabled pickup truck when he said Wilson, who was armed with the machete, approached him and told him to move the truck. That’s when he was attacked. Police later detained Wilson after officers say he resisted arrest. During a safety sweep of the home, an officer reported seeing a machete in plain view. Wilson denied attacking the men and told detectives he had actually been assaulted by them first. He was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injuries and Resisting arrest.

❗️Heads up! TxDOT still has a contractor doing work on the flyover from southbound Highway 6 into Navasota at the split. This was supposed to be finished last week. Southbound 6 is crazy backed up and now TxDOT is saying it’s going to be another couple weeks of this mess. 🥲 Leave early. Expect delays. Stay safe.

🚨 A former N.C. State sports medicine director is facing 32 criminal charges after authorities say he sexually abused male college athletes under the guise of medical treatment. Robert M. Murphy Jr. was arrested in Florida after a North Carolina grand jury indicted him on 9 felony counts of sexual contact under pretext of medical treatment and 23 misdemeanor sexual battery charges. Prosecutors say the charges involve 14 alleged victims and stem from accusations dating from 2016 through 2021. Attorneys representing athletes say as many as 35 former players have contacted them with similar allegations. Murphy’s attorneys deny wrongdoing and say they believe he will be cleared. 🚨 HAZING INVESTIGATION: Police say they found around 30 fraternity pledges partially clothed, covered in food, condiments and other liquids inside a hot basement during an alleged hazing event in Madison, Wisconsin. Most were 18 years old, and police said several had visible injuries consistent with being physically assaulted. The thermostat inside the home was reportedly set to 81 degrees. Two 20-year-old fraternity leaders were arrested on suspicion of hazing and disorderly conduct. Police said no one required hospitalization. The fraternity chapter is recognized by its national organization but has not been recognized by the University of Wisconsin–Madison since 2015. 🤒 FLU OUTBREAK HITS AIR FORCE RECRUITS IN SAN ANTONIO: At least 159 recruits at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland have reportedly contracted the flu, with at least two hospitalized, following the end of the military’s mandatory flu-vaccine policy.

📍 KATY, TX: A youth baseball coach known as Coach Rosendo is in ICE custody. According to his family, Luis Antonio Rosendo has no criminal record. He left Venezuela years ago and was in the process of seeking asylum. His family says he was taken into custody during what they described as a routine immigration appointment. The baseball community has rallied around him, and a fundraiser organized by Francisco Flores says Rosendo coaches children ages 8 to 10 and is raising money for legal fees and family expense.
