The Deputy Defence Spokesperson, Lt Col Simon Kabera, today hosted a delegation of 42 young Rwandan students from the diaspora at the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Headquarters in Kimihurura. The students, from Belgium, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, France, and Nigeria, are visiting Rwanda as part of the Youth Tour 2026. Today, Rwandan peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), alongside other troop-contributing contingents, United Nations Police (UNPOL), and national civilian staff, conducted a Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activity at Juba One Primary School. The activity included cleaning the school compound, planting trees, collecting waste, and clearing overgrown vegetation. The initiative was organized to commemorate World Environment Day. On 14 February 2025, at 1330 hrs, a Rwanda delegation comprising of the Minister of Defence, Hon J Marizamunda, Ambassador Igor Cesar, Amb Lt Gen (Rtd) M Kamanzi, Brig Gen P Karuretwa and Brig Gen R Rwivanga attended the opening ceremony of the 61st Munich Security Conference at Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich, Germany. The Minister participated in a discussion titled: Towards a Stronger UN in a Fragmented World emphasizing Rwanda’s continued support for multilateralism and its genuine commitment to peace and good relations with DRC.

The #Rwanda Defence Force (#RDF) graduated 531 Special Operations Force personnel after they completed 11 months of specialized combat training course at the Nasho Basic #Military Training Centre, Kirehe District. The graduating cohort includes 46 Officers and 485 other ranks.

Today, the Defence Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Ronald Rwivanga delivered a lecture on the significance of National Heroes' Day to the students and staff of Ntare Louisenlund School in Nyamata, Bugesera District. He outlined the values of a hero and described them as people who pursue noble goals to the end; remaining steadfast in the face of challenges.

The 2024-2025 RDF Inter-Force Sports Competition concluded today with an exciting final football match between the Combat Training Centre Gabiro and the Special Operations Force (SOF).
