NEW BOOK: "The Price of Becoming" Podcast Host: The Learning Leader Show.

Dayton, OH
I’m pumped to announce my new book, The Price of Becoming: The Compounding Practices of High Performance. It’s inspired by early moments in my life when I failed… And the past 11 years and 700+ conversations I’ve had with some of the most exceptional people in the world: coaches, CEOs, athletes, Navy SEALs, scientists, and quiet leaders you've probably never heard of. The book stemmed from a question I like to ask leaders… What do you intentionally do each day to ensure you’re going to bed a little bit better than you were when you woke up? I’ve been super curious about the power of compounding behaviors. So, this is a combo of the things I’ve learned AND what I’ve actually done over the past decade to move from theory to action. It’s kind of pointless to learn all this stuff without actually doing it too… It comes out July 21, 2026. I know this book can be transformational. Especially for people who want to put a positive dent in the world. I want you to read it. I want you to tell your friends about it. Buy extra copies. And spread the word. If you enjoy my work and think you might buy the book when it comes out, it would mean a ton to me if you pre-order it now. Pre-Orders are a really big deal. They help determine the book’s placement online, in bookstores, and they tell my publisher that they need to print a ton so we don’t run out (like we have in the past when people waited til launch week to buy it). You’ll be hearing more about the book over the coming months. This is a deeply personal project. I am nervous to put it out, but at the same time, I’m proud of it. I think it will change your life for the better. WHO is it for? We work with 8s and 9s who want to be 10s. 4s and 5s will not enjoy this book. This is for people who are doing well… And want to be even better. The target market is not the majority of humans. My publisher didn’t love that part (smaller # of people to sell books to). But that’s who I’ve been lucky to attract with my work on The Learning Leader Show. If you really want to make a difference. Want to leave that dent… Then there is a price to pay. There are trade-offs. This book is the story, science, and practical application of that price. It’s not theoretical. It’s stuff you actually do. Each chapter has lots of prompts for you. As well as actions you can take immediately to change your life. If you actually do the work, the outcomes you want will happen. That’s a big if, though… I’m giving away a lot of pre-order bonuses to make it worth your while to buy it right now. All those are at Learning Leader dot com And if you want to buy in bulk (50+), DM me or send an email (Ryan at LearningLeader) Thank you for your support! – Ryan

One of the questions we get about our Learning Leader Circle is... "What's the ROI?" I asked some members of our group how they would answer that question, and this is what Liam Murray said... “When discussing ROI, most start with a financial analysis. The Learning Leader Circle can be compared to any MBA curriculum or a graduate degree in Executive Leadership. When coupled with the podcast/books, the education you receive through the Circle is comparable to any Ivy League graduate coursework (and I’d argue better), at a fraction of the cost. Next, for me, I drink the Jim Collins Kool-Aid and believe your “who” is the most important place you can invest. As an adult with children and a full-time job, networking can be difficult. However, a Learning Leader Circle does all of the heavy lifting for you. Calls are scheduled for you along with an annual summit. Most importantly, everyone is vetted beforehand so you don't have to spend your most precious resource, time, to figure out if someone in the group is worth building a relationship with. They all are... And if you put in the work, ROI for the business is significant. I can only speak for myself, but Circle members have come into my business to serve as keynote speakers, consultants, advisory board members, and informal sounding boards. My firm quite literally has dozens of champions because of the Circle I have joined. One of the most rewarding things is seeing Circle members become friends with my work colleagues. All of this aside, the best ROI for me has been the friendships. Ryan has been a great friend and someone I call and text with regularly. I’ve also developed meaningful friendships with other members and have golfed, seen concerts, been to baseball games, etc., just to be around great humans."

A while back, I started paying attention to which people kept growing over the years and which ones just kinda plateaued... What I've learned has been somewhat surprising. It's had almost nothing to do with intelligence or work ethic. Some of the smartest, hardest-working people I know haven't achieved their goals, while others kept going up and up. The difference came down to WHO they've chosen to spend their time around. Some people think this is soft, but I think it's THE #1 factor in a career (and really in your life). We all can read leadership books and get all the info, but information isn't really what's holding anyone back. What holds most of us back is trying to figure it out alone or being around people who are just okay to float and exist. That's the reason The Learning Leader Circle exists. It's a group of ambitious, curious people who gather regularly to talk about the things they don't really feel comfortable saying out loud anywhere else, whether it's about someone they need to fire or a decision they're struggling to make. Once a year we gather in person at our Growth Summit, and more than a few members have told me those few days alone are worth what they paid for the entire year. Beneath all of it runs a 12-month curriculum we've stress-tested over the past decade to ensure it's as useful as possible for every member. The curriculum is awesome... But the people are what make it great. I read every application, and personally conduct all the interviews. It is by far the least efficient thing I do. But it's worth it to get the people right on the front end. Sometimes I'm asked, "Well, what's the ROI for this?" It's hard to nail down an exact number, but I think Liam Murray (6-year veteran member of our Learning Leader Circle) answers it well... "I applied to gain an edge professionally. Instead, I gained far more. I have come to see those in my group as a personal board of advisors, and many have become good friends." Applications are open now. The groups stay small, around 12 people or so, and I meet with everyone 1-on-1 before they join. If you've been looking for ways to surround yourself with more growth-focused, ambitious people, you should probably apply. "You should join a group where your desired behavior is the normal behavior." - James Clear (at our 2024 Learning Leader Growth Summit)
