Building a skilled workforce from coast to coast!
In total, SBA has awarded $50 million to institutions just like this to support training and workforce development for small manufacturers, who comprise 98% of the domestic industrial base.
Proud to present a $5 million Empower 2 Grow grant to Central Maine Community College.
This grant will allow 612 individuals receive technical training. Their skills will support local small manufacturers, many of whom contribute to Maine’s defense industrial base.

Earlier this year, SBA referred more than $200 billion in suspected PPP and COVID EIDL fraud to the IRS. After comparing information borrowers provided to SBA with information reported to the IRS, the IRS identified discrepancies involving approximately $100 billion in loans and has opened examinations that could lead to additional taxes and fraud penalties.

Today, SBA has announced awards through two grant programs—totaling $16 million—to the small businesses and organizations that will fuel the next generation of American innovation.
More than $8 million has been awarded in FAST Grants to help small businesses and startups onramp into America’s Seed Fund, which provides specialized mentoring, training, and technical assistance for development and research funding.
Additionally, SBA has awarded $8.9 million in SCALE Grants across 18 organizations that will help small manufacturers across America address constraints – from supply chain limitations to workforce development.
