Lumberjack Alley is back! 🪓💜
A gameday tradition that was a big part of SFA Saturdays is returning this weekend with a new home on East College.
Tailgating opens six hours before kickoff, and everyone is welcome to join the party. Live music begins on the tailgate stage at 2 p.m., followed by Pre-Game in the Pines at 3:45 p.m. featuring the Lumberjack Marching Band, Twirljacks, SFA Cheer, SFA Dance Team and Color Guard.
Then it’s time to head inside and cheer on the Jacks. 🏈

Family Weekend is here, Lumberjacks! 💜
Campus and Nacogdoches are packed with things to do as we welcome Lumberjack families back for a full weekend together!
Tonight, kick things off with Bingo at Fredonia Brewery. Then Saturday, start your morning with the Family Day 5K and Family Day Swag Shop before exploring downtown Nacogdoches for the Farmers Market, Art Fest, food trucks, shopping and more. Free shuttle service will run between campus and downtown.
Then it’s time for a full afternoon of SFA athletics! 🏐🏈

Water shapes East Texas, and its future will be built through collaboration, research and action.
The East Texas Water Institute brings together people, expertise and resources to help address the opportunities and challenges facing our region for generations to come.
Dr. Drew Gholson will lead that work as the inaugural T.L.L. Temple Executive Director of the East Texas Water Institute. Gholson’s career has focused on water conservation, applied research and practical solutions for agriculture and communities. His work includes over 50 peer-reviewed publications, more than 150 Extension resources and $50 million in externally funded research.
Before coming to SFA, Gholson served at Mississippi State University's National Center for Alluvial Aquifer Research. He holds a doctorate in soil science and a master’s degree in water management and hydrological sciences from Texas A&M University.

A transformational investment in the future of East Texas. 💧
Today, SFA joined regional leaders, water supply corporations, elected officials and community partners to officially launch the East Texas Water Institute in partnership with T.L.L Temple Foundation and Angelina College.
Housed in @SFA_ACE’s Center for Applied Research and Rural Innovation, the institute will serve as a regional hub focused on water data and measurement, public education, applied research and technical assistance, workforce development and regional coordination.
Dr. Drew Gholson will lead the institute as executive director, with the T.L.L. Temple Foundation making a long-term investment by endowing the position and Angelina College serving as a key education and workforce partner.
Today’s gathering marked the beginning of an important new chapter for SFA and the region we have served for more than a century.

From Nacogdoches to Thailand! 🌎
SFA graduate student Kara Eaton was one of just three students in the country selected to participate in the 14th University Scholars Leadership Symposium at the United Nations Conference Centre.
The School of Social Work student connected with peers from around the world, learned from global change makers and worked alongside members of the local community through hands-on service opportunities.
Her experience is another example of how Lumberjacks are taking what they learn beyond the classroom — and making an impact around the world. 💜🪓
