Will generative AI become an indispensable tool for academic libraries? Prof. Milind Kamat, M F Kumbar, and Uchita Bakshani examine what drives the adoption of generative AI among academic librarians in India. Based on insights from 497 academic librarians across Indian institutions, the study finds that while attitudes towards generative AI are largely positive, adoption depends on more than just the technology itself. Social influence emerged as the strongest driver, while perceived usefulness, ease of use, and institutional support also played a significant role in shaping adoption intentions. The research also highlights an important challenge: despite growing enthusiasm for AI, limited resources and inadequate managerial support continue to hinder its implementation, underscoring the need for stronger institutional leadership to enable responsible AI adoption. Developing research for publication in top OSCM journals What does it take to publish in a top Operations & Supply Chain Management journal? Last week, SPJIMR had the privilege of finding out firsthand. We hosted a Paper Development Workshop with the Journal of Supply Chain Management (JSCM), led by Co-Editor Dr. Hannah Stolze, Co-Editor Emeritus Dr. Wendy Tate, and Dr. T.T. Niranjan, with Dr. Sriram Narayanan joining us online. A special word of gratitude to Dr. Niranjan, who was instrumental in bringing this workshop to SPJIMR. The response from the research community was remarkable. The workshop drew a large pool of submissions — empirical papers grounded in theory across supply chain contexts — from which 15 papers were selected for further development. The editorial team shared extensive written feedback ahead of the workshop, and authors presented their revised papers after incorporating it, making for genuinely developmental conversations rather than one-way reviews.
