The EU's grandfathering period for crypto-asset service providers ended today.
From July 1, any CASP still relying on a national registration instead of full MiCA authorisation is expected to halt onboarding, stop marketing to EU clients, and begin an orderly wind-down, per ESMA's June 2026 statement. Of the roughly 1,200 firms that operated under those national regimes, only about 210 have converted to full authorisation.
@binance is the clearest case. It withdrew its Greek MiCA application on June 24, before a decision was reached, and is now restricting EU services: new registrations, deposits, and yield products are paused, though withdrawals continue while it pursues authorisation through France.
At
@STORM_Partners , we help protocols, DAOs, and institutional issuers turn this kind of regulatory complexity into structural advantage. For CASPs, issuers, and institutional entrants, the compliance architecture and the operating model are the same question from this point forward. Whether you are building a MiCA-compliant RWA tokenization platform or transitioning your institutional custody architecture, our Legal & Resilience team bridges the gap between regulatory mandates and market execution.
If you are finalizing your authorization strategy or require an expert review of your current compliance framework, we invite you to connect with our Legal & Resilience team.
