We are grateful to Jess for her question and for the Health Secretary’s acknowledgement that the NHS has a key role to play.

Yesterday our CEO Cherryl Henry-Leach and Head of Service Alison Ashton attended the IFAS Conference on children, young people and the growing normalisation of strangulation, often referred to as “choking”.
The day highlighted new IFAS research, the importance of listening to young people, and work underway to strengthen clinical responses. The contribution from EmilyTest was a powerful reminder of the cost of missed opportunities.
We were struck by the message that our systems were not built to respond to domestic abuse and must change.
Thank you to IFAS and Bernie Ryan OBE for convening this important space.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Baroness Helen Newlove. Our sincere condolences to her loved ones and family. Her tireless advocacy for victims of crime and commitment to justice leaves a lasting legacy. A profound loss to the VAWG sector.
19 children have been killed during unsafe child contact in the last decade. We honour Claire Throssell MBE’s decade of campaigning. Repeal of presumption of contact + new amendment removing parental responsibility from serious sexual offenders are vital steps toward child safety
We welcome Dame Nicole Jacobs' new report on improving the Family Court's response to domestic abuse.

We stand in solidarity with Imkaan and Sikh Women’s Aid for the safety of Black and minoritised women and girls. Please amplify the message by sharing their statements. We are appalled and do not tolerate or condone the weaponisation of VAWG to push racist and divisive agendas.
🚨Amidst a surge in far-right anti-migrant protests, racist abuse, and Islamophobic rhetoric across the UK, Imkaan is deeply concerned about the escalating risks to the safety and freedom of Black and minoritised women and girls.
