Fuse's Lead Concept Artist, James Lewis-Vines, talks about designing Hibi:
“Early in the design phase we landed on Hibi being Ardennian. Her extra forearms were perfect for leaning into her playful need to constantly innovate and create, and let her swing joyfully around her workshop. We have seen Ardennians in the Star Wars galaxy before, so it was important to differentiate Hibi as much as possible. That meant a lot of sketching, shifting proportions until they felt distinct. We wanted her mechanic profession to sit alongside her chaotic-genius nature, so we layered in tools and headwear to show both sides of her. Hibi’s workshop is an extension of her character, a space she's cobbled together from salvaged parts of a rebel hanger’s service ramp, built to let her work freely on vehicles from every angle and store parts of every shape and size.”
