We've had a great year! A huge thank you to everyone involved with our work - as we couldn't do this without you all🌟
NHS Blood and Transplant Clinical Trials Unit Annual Review Summary for April 2023 to March 2024. We were awarded £1.1m in grant funding. There are 176 hospitals taking part in one of our clinical trials. We had 9 new publications, and we had 7 studies open for recruitment, with 13 active clinical trials. 1175 participants took part in one of our clinical trials, and all of our trials have Patient and Public Involvement, which helps to ensure our research outcomes are relevant to patients. We also now have 45 team members!

Great news – we’ve finished recruitment to the SWIFT trial three months ahead of schedule, thanks to the support of our partners. We’re trialing whole blood transfusions with @DMS_MilMed @AirAmbulancesUK and hospitals around the country.

This is an extraordinary acheivement. 10 years ago, if somebody said 'let do a randomised trial of blood in PHEM helicopters on seriously injured people' I think we would have all anticipated slow recruitment. 👏👏
