In a society marked by turmoil, noise, and haste, how can a believer live in spiritual tranquility and inner stability?
First and foremost, it is important that his conscience be at peace, untroubled by hatred, resentment, or anger. Rather, he should enjoy peace, love, chastity, contentment, and the like.
If his inner peace becomes disturbed, he should remove that disturbance as quickly as possible through confession or by turning to his spiritual father.
The Jesus Prayer—the continual prayer of the heart—also helps him greatly in this regard.
He should also be realistic and patient, not expecting from others more than their abilities and circumstances allow, and he should not judge them.
Moreover, visiting monasteries from time to time can help strengthen and preserve inner peace and stability.
