Evening update from the Pacific:
A new day at sea brings new challenges — and today brought a big one. Oliver discovered his hydrovane (the wind-powered self-steering system) had come loose, which isn’t just a minor annoyance — it’s a serious safety threat, allowing water to enter the boat.
Catching it early, like Oliver did, likely saved him and Captain Phoenix from a lot of stress (and possibly a much bigger crisis).
Thankfully, he got to it in time. Only a small amount of water made it in, but it’s a powerful reminder: complacency has no place out here. You’ve got to stay sharp. Good catch, and well done on the quick fix in the cave, Captain! 🫡
The best part? The course is steady, spirits are high, and Hawaii is right there.
