I think this is mostly due to many in Spindlehorse being “lorebrained”, and then trying to take inspiration from Bojack Horseman is honestly kind of a terrible idea for a show that’s spiritually more of a mix between Duckman, Invader Zim, and Billy & Mandy.
I think this is just what happens when the story was clearly conceived to be about a verse of mostly sociopaths. Blitzo threatens to rape Moxxie and Millie due to Moxxie fucking up in the first episode, but now it's all just teen drama featuring old men.
