Latest from CPD: officers still sweeping the store. FBI assisting investigation. Next update will come around 8 or 9 a.m. That update *should include how many fatalities and injuries. Wouldn’t confirm if shooter male or female, age or relationship to Walmart (if any) @13NewsNow

When we arrived, the Walmart parking lot was packed with police, fire and EMS. Now, 3 hours later, it’s mainly police cars that remain. It’s important again to note CPD says the shooter is dead, so there is no ongoing threat to the public @13NewsNow

BREAKING: We have just learned 7 people were killed, including the shooter, at the Chesapeake Walmart. That’s according to the city’s official Twitter account. Still waiting to hear how many were injured. We know Sentara was caring for 5 patients that came from the scene.
