It sucks when this happens.
Lucky it’s only happened to me once. I was going so slow negotiating at night during a thunderstorm that nothing happened to the deer. I had some minor body damage that was easily fixed.
Moose are worse.
In many states you can harvest the good meat.
Because of hunters working with conservation efforts for habitat, seasons, tags, limits there are deer to hunt and unfortunately sometimes hit.
In the early 1900’s there were only around 100,000 elk. Now there are 1.1 million or more.
Same success with whitetail, mule deer, water fowl, turkeys. So many successes because hunters, fishermen and sporting firearm owners pay additional taxes on gear, licenses, tags, habitat stamps that fund state agencies efforts for species and habitat management.
So be thankful there are seasons, limits, licenses so we can all enjoy many wildlife species.
