This is an interesting archetype, albeit evolutionary dead end. We know going back to the Mesolithic, 50k+ years ago that male-only groups exterminated the girly-boys, 100% effectiveness. Go a bit further back 20M+ years, and that's true of all the great apes.

It's wild to still see rites of men making the rounds. We had to delay with this as far back as 2012 (that I know of) and it always sucked.
Performative masculinity, similar to the Pidgeon dancing of bf Skinner experiment fame. Guys cargo cult useful activities, because things aren't hard like they used to be (few exceptions. Pro sports and special forces eg)
The rites of passage were neolithic rituals and I find it hard to believe men have been aimless since the agricultural revolution. Beyond that, you went to war because the kind told you to. Your farmed as soon as able because food was hard. There was no rites, you were out to work once you were useful.
And now that the industrial revolution had oil replace man's labor as the primary driver of productivity, men navel gaze about hunting deer and eating their heart.

Interesting how she left out the most important word: "pretty much every MALE society did it".
The longhouse is women trying to control male behavior, even strictly amongst themselves. Rejecting the longhouse says women have zero say in what goes on in male-only societies.

Of course, men having male-only societies, as they have since the beginning of time, is what bothers some modern women the most. They want to reach in and control all male behavior. This has to be emphatically rejected. (Thankfully, this not true of all women.)

Banning hazing is the epitome of longhouse behavior. Pretty much every male society in the world previously had initiation rituals of some sort for young men entering adulthood, that were often physically & mentally demanding, proving toughness while building camaraderie.

What people are missing is the reason the Houthis are dangerous is not primarily the drones, but the 350k paramilitary in their hills, whom the Saudis & Yemen govt can't defeat. The drone threat can be stopped cold by taking the territory. Same thing in Iran.

Iran can continue to fire drones & missiles because nobody is willing to take the massive ground casualties that would be needed to successfully invade Iran & control the territory, i.e. the old-fashioned way of warfare as been true throughout history.
