That’s what makes this version of Tony so fascinating. The confidence, the clothes, the attitude, the way he carries himself—it’s easy to watch him and think, “This guy is a badass.”
But The Sopranos was always more complicated than that.
Tony looks powerful on the outside, while underneath all that confidence is a man constantly trying to fill an emptiness he can’t actually fix.
That contrast is why James Gandolfini’s performance still hits differently.
Tony wasn’t just a gangster who looked cool.
