Gotta love (ie. hate) people who, rather than admit they're wrong, just change their stance and language. The beaches on the afternoon of D-Day are now 'advantageous' rather than the original 'stormy' with 2m high waves.
I'm being told on YouTube that the afternoon of D-Day saw 2 metre high waves all along the beaches and my claiming that it calmed after the morning is a lie...

I'll add that the weather did worsen in the evening, with strong surf disrupting landings to the extent that some beaches were closed as darkness fell. But to claim that the afternoon was worse than the morning is... something.

This is an exciting pile of books to return to, ordered from a Dutch guide shortly before I went away. Some translation work to do, but particularly excited by Buffaloes liberate Middelburg. Thank you Jan!

I watched this disaster unfold over the last month and quite frankly I think some people at the British Museum are being economical with the truth here. Having seen the tapestry a few times in Bayeux, I don't believe BM learned anything from the French... bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cmdx…

I've heard that aside from the tapestry there's little else to the exhibition. This will only increase the demand to view the tapestry – if there's nothing else to look at, it's hardly any wonder that the public will want to get their money's worth from the tapestry.

Quite frankly the museum looks incredibly amateur. Did they really think that having witnessed unprecedented demand they wouldn't need to organise any sort of visitor management? It's baffling that despite years of experience and having spoken to Bayeux that this has happened.

I think NewsThump captures my dilema best. It's a brilliant watch, but I don't think Tucker is as ignorant as many believe. Instead his attempts at revisionism are off the scale. Happily his effort to manipulate history to his own end here is disasterous. youtube.com/watch?v=WDwKfFV8…

Meanwhile, on Farcebook… A pair of ‘historians’ seem to be hitting all the military history groups, pushing the narrative that Market Garden was planned and commanded by Lewis Brereton and was therefore a US operation. Curiously they still blame Montgomery for its failure.

Badge of honour. Not that this makes any difference at all given that @LordAshcroft doesn't let anyone reply to his tweets anyway. I wonder why... 🤔

This, and what’s going on at Imperial War Museum, is what happens when museums are run by people who don’t give a toss about museums.
You gotta be kidding me dude
